Strengths:-
Exceptional and star batting lineup-
The top order of the Royals boasts star-studded players like Jos Buttler, Sanju Samson, and Yashasvi Jaiswal. In the previous season, Jaiswal showcased his batting prowess, finishing as the fifth-highest run-scorer with 625 runs in 14 games, boasting an impressive strike rate of 163.61. While Buttler had a subdued 2023 season, he aims to complement Jaiswal in the upcoming 2024 season.
Captain Sanju Samson’s role is crucial, batting at number three to support the openers and reinforce the team’s top order. Both Buttler and Samson have been integral to the RR squad since 2018, bringing valuable experience to the team.
Outstanding spin attack-
The Royals boast an outstanding spin attack with Yuzvendra Chahal, Adam Zampa, and Ravichandran Ashwin in their squad. These exceptional players need no introduction, having extensive experience in international cricket and a reputation for causing trouble for batsmen.
Zampa showcased his bowling prowess in the 2023 World Cup, securing 23 wickets in 11 matches with an economy of 5.36. The 31-year-old played a crucial role in Australia’s sixth title win, finishing as the second-leading wicket-taker. As for Ashwin and Chahal, both stalwarts of Indian cricket, their familiarity with Indian conditions makes them capable of posing significant challenges for opposing batsmen.
Rajasthan Royals (RR) Weaknesses:
Limited All-rounders
Ahead of the 2024 auction, RR released West Indies player Jason Holder, leaving Ashwin as the sole all-rounder in the team. In the upcoming 2024 IPL season, most teams are expected to have a minimum of two quality all-rounders, placing Rajasthan at a disadvantage with only one player in the all-rounder role.
Rajasthan Royals (RR) Opportunities:
A significant chance for certain players to secure spots in India’s T20 World Cup 2024 team
The upcoming 2024 IPL edition presents a major opportunity for several RR players to earn positions in the Indian squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup in the West Indies. Key Indian players like Jaiswal, Samson, and Chahal will aim to showcase their best performances to secure spots in India’s T20 World Cup squad. kuldeep sen , Druve jurel have also chance to showcase themselves in IPL for their international cricket carrier.
Rajasthan Royals (RR) Threats:
Concerns about Players’ Form
RR faces a significant challenge with the inconsistent form of their key players. Jos Buttler has struggled with his batting consistency since October 2023. Despite hitting three fifties against the West Indies recently, there is no guarantee that he has fully regained his form.
Prasidh Krishna, making a comeback for RR in 2024, is also experiencing a lack of rhythm. In the recent five-match T20 International (T20I) series against Australia, he showed a lack of discipline and conceded many runs. The subpar performances of these key players could potentially become an issue for the Royals in 2024.
